Remarques | I was out to look for the comet. As soon as I stepped out the door, I saw what looked like a falling firework, through trees, in the same direction as the comet (roughly), northwest. No fireworks are allowed here (national forest), and people are pretty serious about it, so it should not have been a firework. (There were no others, and there was no sound of a firework being launched or bursting in air.) Note: My horizon is a little bit above the astronomic horizon, because there's a low mountain between me and the horizon, so when I saw it last, it wasn't quite dead flat. Time is estimated; I looked at my watch about 2 minutes later. (I was walking some dogs.) Viewing location is about 5500 feet above sea level. I guess I should add: No, this wasn't the comet at all. Saw that too, but that's a whole different thing. This was very bright, and white, and left a long trail just like a falling firework. Saw it distinctly through trees, but very briefly. It was falling fast. |
