Remarques | The sighting happened sometime between 6:10 and 6:15am on February 2nd. The sighting lasted 4-6 seconds. The fireball was an orange-yellow color with a smoke trail. It was brighter than a star (or Venus) but not as bright as the moon. The smoke trail also lasted 4-6 seconds and was fairly long. We first saw it when it was maybe one third of the way up the sky. It came very low to the horizon. We aren't exactly sure how low it got and exactly how long its flight lasted, because we lost sight of it behind a pine tree in our yard. We did not see it emerge in the sky on the other side of the pine tree. I was with my dad at the time and we both saw it, so there is an additional witness besides myself. Seen with the naked eye. Although neither of us are experts in astronomy, we do both casually astronomical observation (we were outside at that time in order to see the C/2022 E3 green comet). There appeared to be a slight wobble to the movement of the object, like perhaps there was a slight spiral to its flight. |
